Our Process

Research

After getting the problem statement, we researched about acoustic uroflowmetry.

We also studied how traditional uroflowmetry works and understood the challenges patients face during clinic-based tests.

We gained valuable insights from different research papers from various countries, specifically on acoustic uroflowmetry and got that concept validated.

This research helped us uncover a strong demand for a convenient, private, and reliable home-based solution.

Ideations & Prototyping

Using insights from our research, we explored multiple concepts to make uroflowmetry simpler, more user-friendly, and completely contact-free. Early sketches allowed us to refine the device attachment concepts, and the overall experience of the app as well.

Some of the concepts we tried developing were:

1. An app based solution that would make the process seamless and completely contact free.

2. A product based solution where a container would have a microphone placed in such a way that it is able to record the sound of the void. The data gathered would also get stored digitally, on an app or a clinician dashboard. Using a container would help in standardising the process.

Prototype Testing

While finalising the concept, we kept two things in mind - feasibilty and how fast we can build the model (since we were on a time cruch).

The final idea evolved into a smartphone-based system powered by acoustic analysis and intelligent data interpretation.

We tested our prototypes in real bathroom environments to evaluate accuracy, ease of use, and user comfort.

We also took opinions of doctors and got the idea validated by them. We also received suggestions for the future scope of the product.
